In our journeys toward self-love, books help us plant the seeds that nurture our growth. Self-love books are the companions we need to remind ourselves about being kind, compassionate, understanding and accepting of ourselves.

Reading has a profound personal and transformative experience. Each time we pick up a book, it has the potential to mirror our inner world, guide us through our emotions, and help us make sense of our lives.

The Comfort Book offers a collection of thoughts, reflections, and affirmations that act as a soothing balm for the difficult times in our lives.

There’s no plot, merely reflections about everything that Haig has compiled to comfort himself. And, I’m glad and grateful that he decided to share his thoughts and reflections with the world.

It’s a book that offers warm and heartfelt messages. On most days, I end my day by randomly picking a page of The Comfort Book.

I’m drawn to books, particularly self-help, in which the author doesn’t make you feel like you’re imperfect, but instead shares that imperfection with you. So, Thanks to Haig for his comforting words.

It gives us the message that no matter the circumstances, we’re not alone.

Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed

Perhaps most of you have read the book Ikigai. I was initially fascinated by its cover, as I knew nothing about the book. I had bought it as a gift for a friend who had already read it, so I kept it for myself.

This book changed my perspective and made me think about my Ikigai, which translates to “a reason for being” or “a reason to wake up in the morning.” One of the reasons why I started a blog is to share my thoughts with people, and I might have found my Ikigai.

Yes, Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life does touch on the concept of self-love, though it is not the book’s primary focus. The principles of ikigai involve self-love, as finding and nurturing your purpose requires understanding and caring for yourself.

Ikigai highlights the importance of taking care of your body, which is a direct expression of self-love. The book discusses practices like hara hachi bu (eating until you’re 80% full) and the integration of regular, moderate exercise into daily routines.

It’s one of my favorite books about self-love, and I’d recommend it to everyone who hasn’t read it.
